Catamaran Flying Ginny

Virgin Islands Boat Charters FLYING GINNY, a Lagoon 55ft Sailing Catamaran FLYING GINNY, was one of the largest BVI crewed catamarans in the 90s.

The British Virgin Islands are known for their picturesque landscapes, crystal clear waters, and vibrant marine life. And what better way to explore these idyllic islands than by embarking on a boat charter adventure? Among the numerous charter options in the region, one that stands out is the renowned FLYING GINNY.

FLYING GINNY was a boat charter and a training ground for crews looking to gain experience in the British Virgin Islands. It offers a unique opportunity for aspiring sailors to learn the ropes while exploring the breathtaking beauty of the Virgin Islands.

The Boat

The boat was a spacious and well-equipped vessel designed to accommodate the crew and guests comfortably. It offered a range of amenities, including four cozy cabins, a fully equipped galley, and a relaxing lounge area.

There were three queen size bed cabins and one with two upper and lower beds.

One of the former Captains:

Austin Marshal is from Greenville, S. Carolina, and loves everything “in and on the water.” He spent many hours on the lake near his home in Greenville, South Carolina fishing, boating, wakeboarding, and diving. While on a family dive vacation in the BVI, Austin realized his “training” on the lake could actually turn into a dream job on the islands.

Austin completed his US Coast Guard Captain training after graduating from the University of Kentucky with a business management degree. Then he headed to the BVI. With his easygoing, well-rounded personality, he soon got a do-it-all job with a large charter company on Tortola.

This provided a hands-on crash course in all aspects of the charter yacht business, from dock work and yacht maintenance to private and large group sailing and dive excursions.

One of the former Chefs and First Mates

Having completed a law degree in Scotland, Philippa, who was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, embraced her love of travel. She initially moved to Portugal. And she worked in a shore-based dive center for a couple of seasons. Moreover, it was where she honed her underwater skills and found her sea legs.

The next obvious step was a long passage to the warm waters of the Caribbean. This was where she spent the next 14 months in the BVI—working as a Dive Instructor on a 105 ft sailing boat.

The BVI is the premier yacht charter destination in the Caribbean, with very good scuba diving for all levels of divers. Virgin Islands boat charters Flying Ginny escorted guests on their BVI dive adventure.
