Sail the British Virgin Islands this season on the 56-foot Lagoon catamaran VIRAMAR. She will debut on the charter scene this season and both the vessel and her crew are certainly ready.
The yacht recently underwent a refit in Valencia, Spain, where her new crew joined her. Tyler and Erika Boruff have meticulously overseen the refit and recently made the transatlantic voyage with her to the British Virgin Islands, where the remaining projects were finished up in time for Christmas.
And the owner spared no expense. “Our budget was awesome,” said Erika.
The yacht can accommodate eight charter guests. It has three queen beds and one room with two bunks. “We’re also big into diving and water sports,” said Erika. They now have 12 brand new regulators on board as well as 20 tanks and top-of-the-line snorkel gear.
Tyler is an avid fisherman with three rods on board. Although the BVIs are a catch-and-release area, the fishing is still very fun.
The Boruff’s have more than six years of experience working side by side, both on boats and as certified PADI instructors. They worked on a different boat last season and won “Best Crew” in the Virgin Islands Professional Charter Association show.
They lived in the BVIs for several years and know the area well. Erika said that for this season, they are offering a free guided tour of Anegada. There, Tyler and Erika will rent a car and give their guests a tour around the island, visiting all their favorite spots, including the beautiful Cow Wreck beach. The day ends with a delicious lobster meal.
If the weather doesn’t allow for the sail over to Anegada, an alternative day trip to Virgin Gorda is offered, which includes a guided tour of The Baths.
The Boruff’s are preparing for a busy season, which is much welcomed after the devastation that was caused by Hurricanes Irma and Maria last year. “This season looks so much better,” said Erika. I think it’s going to be a good season,” she continued.
According to Erika, it is much easier to provision now, with farms and distributors back up and running on the islands. Erika plans meals that range from lamb and pheasant to island-inspired meals with plenty of local hot sauces.
She said that most of their favorite restaurants are also back up and running.
They will be chartering in and around the BVIs until July 1st. Afterward, they will head to the ABCs (Aruba, Bonaire, and Curaçao). However they will be available for off-season charters with enough notice. “We’re pretty excited to make our own schedule,” Erika said about the slower, summer season.
