Meet Your Crew

Robert Marx - Captain
Nationality: South African
Languages: English

Robert, a farm boy from South Africa, had to learn early on how to fix things and to be innovative when you can’t find parts for machinery or equipment. After helping his dad on the farm for several years, he joined a Construction company where he traveled all over the Eastern Cape of SA, managing new building sites.

In 2006 he joined the yachting industry and spent his first year as the Chief Engineer on the 164ft M/Y Chantel Ma Vie. When the opportunity arose for him to work with his wife, they joined M/Y El Jefe where he started as Mate/Engineer before becoming the Captain onboard in 2009. He has since completed a ton of successful charters as Captain and has cruised all over the Caribbean, Bahamas and up and down the US East Coast.

In 2022 Robert and his wife joined M/Y Unbridled and he is ready to take guests on the adventure of a lifetime. His meticulous attitude ensures all systems are running smoothly and are well maintained for a safe and carefree vacation. His easy-going nature will make you feel comfortable from the moment you step onboard. He likes to make people laugh and keep guests active and entertained. When not navigating the crystal-clear waters off some tropical island, Robert enjoys motor sports, fishing, camping and watching documentaries.

For the past 17+ years, she has worked on yachts ranging from 107ft to 200ft, where her calm demeanor and can-do attitude made her a favorite amongst owners, guests, and crew. Esha Groenewald - Mate/Dive Master
Nationality: South African
Languages: English

Growing up in the beautiful coastal town of Knysna, South Africa, Esha developed a deep appreciation for the ocean from an early age. After finishing school, he spent six years working in upper-class restaurants, where he developed a strong foundation in hospitality and guest service. Looking for a new adventure, he moved into the resort industry as a tour guide, where he discovered a passion for spearfishing and life on the water. What started as a hobby quickly became a lifestyle. Determined to pursue his passion, Esha earned his Divemaster certification along with his Advanced Freediver qualification before completing his yachting certifications and making the move to the United States to begin his career in the yachting industry.

Since joining his first yacht, Esha has continued to build his experience both above and below the surface. He has achieved his Master of Yachts Certificate of Competency and has logged hundreds of dives in destinations around the world. When the opportunity arose to join M/Y Unbridled, he jumped at the chance and has never looked back.

Esha thrives on creating unforgettable experiences for charter guests, whether that means leading scuba diving and snorkeling excursions, teaching guests to enjoy the yacht's extensive collection of water toys, or simply sharing his enthusiasm for the ocean. His calm, friendly nature and genuine passion for adventure make him a valued member of the crew and someone guests immediately feel comfortable with. When he's not on duty, Esha can usually be found in or on the water, whether diving, freediving, spearfishing, or enjoying almost any watersport. As he continues learning from his experienced captain and growing within the industry, his long-term goal is to one day captain his own yacht. Until then, he's exactly where he wants to be—doing what he loves and helping guests create memories they'll never forget.

This was my second booking on Unbridled and the first guests back in December were just as happy. I will absolutely continue to offer Unbridled to my clients, plus you and Rod are great to work with:)

AMAZING!!!! Knowledgeable, safety first, great attitudes, great Captain,
Daphne, Jazz and Esha were all SO good at everything they did. The Chef D
was truly amazing - the food was great, but the fact he could deliver it at
once for 8 people was impressive. They were all smiling every day at every
thing! They made the trip what it was! So impressed.
●And last but not least, the food? 5
●Tell us about your meals.
WOW. I am a pescatarian and the chef was very accommodating and my
meals were as good as anyone’s!! He really delivered. The sushi night was
truly amazing!!! Really enjoyed his food!
● Great! Now, do you remember what you liked best about this trip? EVERYTHING!!!!!!!
● And what did you like the least about this trip? It ended too soon.
●Thank you. Please tell us how did you find the pace and the itinerary of your

Guest Two:

● So overall, how would you rate the charter? 5
● Boat Layout? 5
● Were your cabins comfortable? Yes
● Was the yacht exterior spacious and comfortable? Yes
● Was there enough shade? Yes
● Cleanliness? 5
● Was the yacht clean and well-maintained? Yes
● Location? 5
● Crew? 5
● How would you describe your Captain and crew?
The crew was exceptional, always greeting you with a smile, very courteous,
friendly, and always looking out for our every need. The captain and chief
stew are very knowledgeable and experienced. They managed the other
younger crew members very well so we always felt like we had someone
there looking out for us no matter the day or time.
● And last but not least, the food? 5
● Tell us about your meals.
All 8 of us can't stop talking about the food. There wasn't one meal we would
have changed. A great variety of menu items, 3 meals a day, plus cocktail
hours. The food was always fresh, so well prepared and delicious. We had a
theme every night and the meals reflected the occasion. We had one
vegetarian and the chef went above and beyond to prepare special meals for
her. We loved the meals so much that we took the menus with us in hopes
that we can recreate at least one of the spectacular meals.
● Great! Now, do you remember what you liked best about this trip?
The ease of it all has impressed all of us so much. There is always some anxiety
around traveling with a group. Not knowing how everyone will get along, how to
interact with the crew, will the accommodations be acceptable to everyone. From the
beginning, Captain Marx was at the airport to greet us and get us to the yacht. No
waiting, no hassle. Once we got on board we were greeted by the rest of the crew who
showed us to our cabin to get situated. It did help to have the cabins assigned before
boarding. Then we were shown around the yacht and once everyone was on board he
debriefed us on where we would go first and what activities would be available. He did
this everyday so we had something to look forward to. The yacht was spacious that
each person could find a great resting spot or we could all get together in the lounge
area for cocktails and conversation. We all looked forward to the outstanding meals
together, breakfast, lunch and dinner, all 5 star. Nothing was forced, very relaxing but
at the same time plenty of activity if you wanted it. Jet Skiing and diving was as much
of a hit as lounging in the floating chairs with a cocktail. The water was the perfect
temperature, views of the islands eye candy, the huge tarpon at night at the back of
the boat fascinating, and a very large barracuda that decided to visit was special. The
destinations such as the Baths Virgin Gorda, Saba Rock, St John, Jost an Dyke, and
the others we visited in BVI just amazing. It's hard to say what we liked best because it
was all the BEST.
● And what did you like the least about this trip? Having to leave...
● Thank you. Please tell us how did you find the pace and the itinerary of your
vacation? It worked out very well. Captain left it open to change in case weather or some other
unforeseen issue arose so we all just went with it. No stress.
●  Would you charter this yacht again? If not, please explain: Yes absolutely

Guest One:

Dear Daphne, Robert, Jo, Arthur & Chef D'Andre,

You all are an incredible Crew! Thank you for a wonderful experience. From the moment we stopped on board we felt at home. ❤︎
The food was so amazing that we never wanted to leave the boat. Every meal was a highlight but the themed dinners were next level. Our favorite was the Japanese night and it fit right in with our Mahjong Game nights. :) And of course the disco night we will remember forever, especially X in his shirtless costume!

We have been fortunate enough to charter yachts before, but to date, this was the warmest, most welcoming, and best crew we have ever experienced. Your kindness, attention to detail, sense of fun and ability to make us feel cared for is truly remarkable.

Thank you for giving us a week filled with joy, friendship, meaningful conversations and memories! You will be carried in our hearts! ❤︎

With Love and Appreciation ❤︎❤︎❤︎

Guest Two:

Dear Robert, Daphne, Jo, Arthur & Deandre,

Thank you for an absolutely WONDERFUL week on UNBRIDLED.

You brought our families so much joy. The food was amazing - thank you D'Andre! We were so spoiled and didn't want to leave the boat to eat.

Arthur - thank you for getting our kids "hooked" on fishing and guiding us on the incredible water activities.

Daphne + Jo, thank you for the exceptional hospitality - from theme nights to cozy rooms, cocktails, and warm smiles - you made our time on UNBRIDLED very special.

And Captain Robert, thank you for steering us along a wonderful adventure with lots of laughs and joy along the way.

You are the BEST! ❤︎

***May 31 to June 7, 2026***

Everything was fantastic. They would definitely see us again. Their hospitality and attention to detail is next to none.

***April 26 to May 3, 2026***

We're thinking of our next charter already! Looking forward to filing out the review. The UNBRIDLED Crew if top notch. Extremely professional, but we always felt comfortable and able to check all the boxes with a team 100% committed to our enjoyment and safety. Thank you again.

Broker Questionnare:

Were the accommodations and general condition of the yacht satisfactory for your charter party?
Unbridled is an older vessel that has been well maintained and refreshed. Staterooms were in good shape, the forward 4th stateroom was a little difficult to utilize.

Was the crew cordial, accommodating and professional?
The crew was amazing. Capt Robert and his wife Daphne are consummate professionals, very experienced and worked hard to make sure the the experience was a trip of a lifetime. They are supported by Arthur (dive master) and Joe (Joann), 2 very capable crew members. D'Andre is an amazing chef with our entire party discussing his culinary skills at every meal.

How would you describe the quality of the meals prepared and served on board?
As referenced above, D'Andre is world class and every meal was a wonderful experience, helped along by great service from Joe and Daphne. Seamless and natural. The theme nights were well done and lots of effort put in to make each night special.

Did your charter experience meet or exceed your expectations?
Exceeded all of our expectations.

***April 04, 2026 to April 11, 2026***

How far in advance should I book?

Luxury yachts are often reserved several months in advance, especially during peak seasons. Early booking provides the best selection and pricing.

Do I need sailing experience?

No. Most luxury yacht charters include an experienced captain and professional crew who handle navigation and daily operations.

Can you recommend similar yachts?

Absolutely. If this yacht isn't the perfect match, our charter experts can recommend similar yachts based on your budget, group size, destination, and preferred amenities.
