Virgin Islands charter catamaran Zingara has undergone some terrific upgrades this season. We can’t wait to see her this November at the BVI Boat Show in Nanny Cay. Captain Lee Adams explains what we can expect to see…
“It brings me great pleasure to update you on the current events aboard S/Y Zingara.
Even though our season is winding down, and we will sail to Grenada for the summer months, we continue to upgrade and make the ‘Old Girl’ sparkle. Don’t worry – you will all get to see her in the upcoming November Show in Nanny Cay.
We have finally installed a new carpet, the ceiling boards are being reupholstered at the moment, a new generator was installed at the beginning of this season as well as a brand new 19′ tender with 115HP was purchased. Two air-conditioning compressors were installed, 2 brand-new Dometic chiller units and it is ice-cold on board now. This was carried out mid-season. We have completed some much-needed interior varnish and repaired and painted the SUPs – They look brand new!!! All through the cabins, we have repaired the upholstery and given it a deep, professional clean. The main engines are booked in to receive a complete overhaul.
Needless to say, I am very excited about the upcoming season!
Everything is looking great and we will continue to keep the upgrades going…. Watch this space!!!
In further news, my wife and I are expecting our first child! Nadine has been incredible and has pushed through almost the entire season!! She has received amazing reviews from all the guests she had the opportunity to meet. The cuisine Nadine prepares will no longer be on Zingara, but her smile and positive personality on board are what will be missed the most.
Nadine will depart at the end of June, and we have secured an amazing new chef on board who goes by the name of Tyron “TJ” Truscott. He is looking forward to meeting everyone and offering some of his yummy delights. TJ has many years of high-quality restaurant experience as well as yachting experience in the Mediterranean.”
Captain Lee on the Virgin Islands charter catamaran Zingara was also kind enough to include Chef TJ’s crew profile:
“Growing up in my late father’s restaurant, it was inevitable to start cooking from a young age. Living by the sea and cooking was more than just a routine.
Pursuing a career as a chef straight after school, combined with my love for sports, was a good start.
Trained in a French restaurant, where my inspiration for making people smile with food led me to become a yacht chef. After a year in Spain, home once again, I entered into a position as a private chef for a high profile family of many different cultures. Missing the sailing and exploring, the position urged me once again to return to further my career in the maritime industry.
My passion for food, culture, and people never stops growing. My dream of opening my own restaurant is on hold, but traveling and experiencing as many tastes worldwide as possible and perfecting my cooking to the best of my ability is where my heart is. After working in some of the best restaurants in Cape Town, South Africa, as a Master Butcher and Chef, cooking at the highest standard on the ocean is my ultimate goal.”
