Karin had the pleasure of snorkeling over the turtles in the Tobago Cays while staying at Raffles Canouan.

TMM Bareboat vacations share this article. Chartering a yacht is a great way to experience this Paradise found. We love to spend at least two full days in the Tobago Cays. It is time for another trip there.

PARADISE FOUND” IN ST. VINCENT & THE GRENADINES

Mayreau is just one of the 10 “Paradise Found” destinations in National Geographic Travelers’ special 25th Anniversary issue (October 2009).  National Geographic Traveler This special issue features “50 Places of a Lifetime Worldwide.”  Mayreau is the only Caribbean destination to receive such prestigious recognition.  National Geographic Traveler says:

“The day’s biggest decisions are whether to swim or sail, get into a hammock, or go snorkeling.”

Tobago Cays Marine Park Sanctuary (above) has proved to be an enormous success.  The Turtle Sanctuary in the Tobago Cays just in front of Baradel Island has become a safe haven for the ever-increasing numbers of Green and Hawksbill turtles.  Sighting turtles in their natural environment is as easy as putting on your mask, snorkel, and fins.  These curious creatures thrive on the lush turtle grass beds now protected from the ravages of anchoring.  The establishment of nearby moorings is allowing the natural habitat to return to what it was twenty years ago.  Further, plans are underway for the expansion of the sanctuary area.  As well as turtles, you will often see Southern Stingrays and Eagle Rays in this newly protected area.
