Capt. Hugh O’Brien
Raised in England, he lived across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. Now, he’s a permanent resident of the United States, living in the BVI and USVI.
Started competitive sailing and ocean racing in the UK & France in 1987. That’s a total of 36 years of ocean sailing experience.
He completed his Royal Yachting Association (RYA) YachtMaster 500 Ton Sail & Power Commercial License in 2002.
He was captain and chef in the Cayman Islands, Virgin Islands, USA & Japan.
He also ran 5 Star Sailing with the 50 ft Beneteau Sloop in the Virgin Islands from 2007 to 2011.
He has a 20-year career in Marketing & Sales for American IT & Database companies. Thus, he was able to lead operations in Europe, the US, Asia & Latin America.
From 2018 to 2022, he owned and operated Ocean Star 60, a 60-foot Beneteau sloop. That was when he and Chef Vivi started as partners in Serene Yacht (Beneteau Oceanis 62).
Chef/First Mate Vivianne Swietelsky
Vivianne, or “Chef Vivi,” is based in Water Island, USVI, and Coconut Grove, Miami.
She is known for her authentic interpretations of the world’s great cuisines.
Her signature fusion is MediterrAsian cuisine.
She also makes amazing desserts and is an inspired cocktail mixologist.
Born in the U.S. to Italian and Venezuelan parents. Her mother taught her to cook instinctually, from the heart.
Traveled to different countries, fluent in five languages.
She attended different culinary schools.
Studied Hospitality Management at the Florida International University’s School of Hospitality & Tourism.
She has been a restaurant Pastry Chef. She owned her own upscale Miami catering company, “Truffles Catering.” She also worked as a Private Chef in both private homes and on charter yachts.
Chef Vivi loves sailing. She worked on many sailboats. She also holds an ASA Offshore Sailing Certificate and has owned other Beneteau yachts.
Vivianne upgraded Sailing Yacht Serena with luxe touches like FRETTE sheets, Lanvin products, and Bose sound systems.
As a Private Yacht Chef, she enjoys creating memorable moments through fantastic food and service.
