Experience the Adventure of Captain Only Boat Charters
Captain Only Boat Charters are a good value for those seeing more independence while experiencing a relaxing casual sailing vacation. Sail the Virgin Islands or Grenadines.
A Captain-only boat charter is a yacht charter that comes with at least a captain and sometimes with a first mate. The captain drives the yacht, and you take care of everything else, including cooking and housekeeping. With a Captain-only boat charter, you assist the captain in sailing and can pick up a few sailing techniques along the way. You cook for everyone and clean the galley as well as make your bed and clean the head. What’s the best part? Your cost is typically 75% of a fully crewed yacht.
You are responsible for covering the cost of all provisions incl. food, beverage, and ice consumed on-board (including the captain’s meals); running expenses including fuel for the yacht, generator and tender, mooring fees and requested dockage, taxes including cruising taxes, National Park fees, and custom clearance fees.
This is a great way to enhance your boat handling skills and save a little money. You and your group are the Crew on a Captain-Only yacht charter. The captain’s role is primarily as a guide, advisor, and helmsman.
Unlike a bareboat charter, where there is no captain or crew, Captain-Only yachts include water sports equipment i.e. snorkel, kayak, paddle-board, wake-boarding, etc. Scuba diving is available on some boat charters for an additional charge.
The overall responsibility of the yacht remains with the captain. All captains are fully qualified, and most are owners/operators of the yacht. They have made sailing a full-time and permanent part of their lives.
We LOVE “Two If By Sea”. This 45ft sailing catamaran provides crewed and captain-only charter options to accommodate up to 6 guests and provide onboard scuba diving.
