Darrel grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa, exploring suburban jungles and raising his pet lion, Chaos. He somehow finished school and spent a few aimless years at university dabbling in random subjects. However, none of which help in his current job.
He’s a lieutenant in the South African National Defense Force—salutes optional onboard. Darrel speaks three languages, two unique to South Africa.
In 2003, he ditched his accounting career and headed to sea. He moved to Cape Town to earn his captain’s license, sailing some of the planet’s roughest waters before qualifying to captain small dinghies in several developing countries.
For the past fourteen years, Darrel has lived and sailed in the Caribbean. In addition, he worked on a range of charter vessels and knows the best bars on most islands. Some even welcome him back.
He’s swum with dolphins, witnessed humpback whales breaching beside his boat, and hopes to repeat two of those three experiences. With over 45,000 nautical miles logged and 400+ charters completed, Darrel is a seasoned sailor through and through.
Jenn grew up in Canada in a famously haunted house, but has deep family roots in the islands. After visiting the British Virgin Islands for two decades, she leaped five years ago to become a local.
Her eclectic background includes managing a jazz club, working as a realtor, doing make-up artistry, and even captaining a space simulator. As a result, she brings her hospitality and culinary skills to the charter world, where guests rave about her gourmet meals (loose-fitting clothes recommended for the return trip!).
Warm, engaging, and a whiz in the kitchen, Jenn’s cheerful vibe and home cooking are sure to win you over.
Chris was born in South Africa and moved to the Virgin Islands at age nine, growing up on boats and calling the BVI home—until Hurricane Irma swept him to Canada. After several years away, he returned in 2023 to join ANGELEYES as first mate. Hence, Canada’s loss is our gain.
With a calm, friendly energy and years of charter experience, Chris wins guests over instantly. He’s more than a skilled mariner—his crew calls him “the nicest guy in the world.” Whether teaching watersports, mixing martinis, or making guests feel at home, he does it all with quiet excellence.
Chris holds a 200-ton captain’s license and has sailed extensively across the Caribbean. Moreover, he’s a welcome addition to the ANGELEYES team, bringing peace, good cheer, and serious sea skills.
Jenny was born and raised in Scotland (yes, that big island west of France). As the daughter of two avid divers, she grew up on dive boats and learned to love the water from inside a wetsuit.
Moreover, she’s the only one of the crew with formal hospitality training, holding a degree in hotel management and catering. After years of managing hotels and restaurants in Edinburgh, she moved to the BVI, where she’s lived for over two decades.
Her accent still gives away her rugby allegiance, but she’s fully island-savvy. Lastly, Jenny has worked on boats, run restaurants, and knows just about everyone and everything in the BVI.
Wonderful Vacation
We had a wonderful vacation in the BVI with this amazing crew on this beautiful boat. Darrel kept us safe and took us to the most beautiful places in the BVI. Jen is definitely a world class chef, that prepared us delicious dishes all the time. Suzanna was always very helpful, polite and was always attentive to our every need. Remi was also very gentle, polite, nice and surprised us every day with our table decorations, fishing, mixology and water sports techniques. Thank You!!!
Vacation of a Lifetime! – With handwritten letter
We just got back from our epic vacation with family and friends aboard the Angeleyes Yacht! The yacht is luxuriously beautiful with its gorgeous interior. The rooms are incredibly spacious, each having its own luxurious bathroom stocked with everything you may need.
The outdoor areas provided so many areas to sit and relax, eat meals with a view, or relax in the hot tub overlooking the beautiful blue waters.
The staff is beyond amazing! Jen made sure we never went hungry on the table’s ever changing place settings.
The food was beyond delicious. From chocolate croissants, pulled pork salads, fish tacos, to Frito pie for these Texans with hungry teenage boys. Remi made sure we were never without an activity to do or a delicious drink in our hands.
He is also a very talented “merman” who can find a fish and a turtle anywhere! Darrell is an extremely knowledgeable captain who not only got us to beautiful places to anchor, but also provided us with many jokes that kept us laughing.
Some of our highlights…We went snorkeling above a sunken barge and along shoreline where we saw so many colorful fish. We went swimming with sea turtles and also came across a beautiful eagle ray and a puffer fish. Remi took the kids tubing and gave them jet board lessons.
Not only did we take advantage of what the ocean had to offer, we also hit up some of the hot spots on the beautiful Islands such as Soggy Dollar, Foxy’s, and The Willy T. Here, we had a blast drinking island cocktails and dancing the night away!
