Young Island, in St. Vincent and The Grenadines

St Vincent and the Grenadines Young Island is a privately owned luxury resort with 13 acres of tropical grounds, just 200 yards from St. Vincent’s southern shores. Will Young Island Resort be the base for your next Caribbean vacation?

History

Legend tells us of the mighty Carib Chief  “Chatoyer,” who greatly admired and desired to have a horse belonging to Sir William Young. Of whom was the British Governor at that time? “If you desire it,” said Sir William to the Chief, “it is yours.” Chatoyer readily accepted the horse in exchange for an island – Young Island.

John Houser of the Hilton Group developed Young Island into a luxury resort 30 years ago. In 1974, ownership eventually moved to its current Vincentian owners: Mr. Vidal Browne and Dr. Fred Ballantyne.

Transportation

Fly to the new Airport, St. Vincent Airport, and take 30 minutes. Taxi ride to the Young Island Resort ferry dock for a five-minute boat ride across the most transparent water you’ve ever seen. Or, sail on your private yacht charter and enjoy some ‘land’ time. At last, step ashore, take off your shoes, and be greeted with a smile and a great welcome!

Young Island Resort has consistently achieved a 50 percent repeat business. One only needs to glance at the spectacular scenery to understand why guests return again and again.

But as Mr. Browne explains, the resort’s appeal lies beyond the idyllic setting: “We have a good formula here in that we are deficient key. One of our policies is no televisions or telephones in our cottages, as people need that kind of escape. And, of course, we have superb staff”.

“We have a staff/guest ratio of 3:1. Many of our guests come back specifically to see the staff. Guests do what they want to do in their own time.

“There is no pressure, no organized tours. In the end, if you want to do nothing, you do nothing. Guests set their own pace.”

Young Island Resort has you covered if you are looking for a luxury suite. Their king suite includes a bedroom with a king-size bed, a separate sitting room, and a large, private terrace. Select suites include private plunge pools.

These suites are an exceptional choice for a wedding honeymoon or just a retreat to get away. Another very nice feature of all the cottages is their open-air garden showers, sure to enhance your tropical escape.

Maybe you want a little tennis; they have a tennis court sitting high at the top of Young Island. Enjoy a game while taking in some incredible views.
