Originally it was known as “Prune Island”. Palm Island got its current name when the former owners, the late John Caldwell (“Coconut Johnny”) and his wife Mary, planted hundreds of coconut palms. Therefore transforming the deserted, swamp, and mosquito-infested island into a palm-covered one. The island is the site of a resort and about twenty private holiday residences.

Weather

There is no bad time to visit the Grenadines. These islands’ close proximity to the equator guarantees steady year-round tropical temperature. Highs are around 88-90 F and the temperature rarely dips below 72F. The dry season runs from December to June, and the rainy season from July to November. The warmest time of year is generally early September when highs are regularly around 89°F (31.8°C) with temperatures rarely dropping below 78°F (25.7°C) at night.
